Moed (“the app”, “we”) is an offline-first Jewish times (zmanim), direction-to-Jerusalem, and reminders app. We built it privacy-first, to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what the app accesses, why, and who (if anyone) it is shared with.

The short version

• We do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email, or any personal profile.
• We do not run ads, trackers, or third-party analytics.
• We never sell, share, or transmit your location to advertisers or any third party. It is used only on your device.
• We don’t operate any servers that store your data.

Information the app accesses

Location — With your permission, the app reads your device location to compute the direction to Jerusalem (the great-circle bearing to the Temple Mount) and your local zmanim (halachic times), candle-lighting, and Shabbat/Yom Tov times. These calculations run entirely on your device. Your location is not transmitted to us and is never sold or shared. You may instead set a location manually in Settings, or deny location access and enter coordinates yourself.

City name (reverse geocoding) — To show a friendly place name (e.g. “Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel”) at the top of the screen, the app may ask your device’s operating system to convert your coordinates into a place name. On iOS and Android this lookup is performed by Apple or Google respectively and may involve their servers, under Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies. The app itself does not store or transmit this information anywhere else.

Notifications — If you enable reminders (candle lighting, the end of Shabbat/Yom Tov, and daily zmanim of your choosing), the app schedules local notifications on your device. Scheduling happens entirely on your device; no notification data leaves it, and we do not use any push-notification server.

On-device settings — Your preferences (nightfall/tzeis method, candle-lighting minhag, manual offsets, language, saved location, etc.) are stored locally on your device only. Removing the app deletes them.

Network connections

The app is designed to work fully offline. The bearing to Jerusalem, the zmanim, the Hebrew date, candle-lighting and Shabbat times, and the magnetic-declination (true-north) correction are all computed on-device from data bundled inside the app. The only network activity is the optional reverse-geocoding lookup described above and in-app purchases (below). We do not send analytics or tracking data.

Purchases

The app’s zmanim core is free. It offers optional Premium purchases (subscriptions and/or a one-time purchase) that unlock extra features. Purchases are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play using their billing systems — we never see or receive your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to verify and remember whether a purchase was made. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt and a randomly generated, anonymous app-user identifier; it does not receive your name or email. This is the only data that leaves your device, and it is the only data we can see. Your location is never part of it.

Children’s privacy

The app is suitable for all ages. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children, and contains no ads or behavioural tracking.

Data retention & security

Your settings and location stay on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app — we never receive them, so we have nothing to retain.

If you make a purchase, the purchase record and the anonymous app-user identifier are held by RevenueCat on our behalf for as long as the app is published, because that record is what keeps your Premium features unlocked and lets you restore them on a new device. It is transmitted and stored encrypted.

Your rights & how to delete your data

You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings, and you can manage or cancel purchases through your App Store or Google Play account.

To request deletion of your data, email tarazi.apps@gmail.com from any address, with the subject “Delete my data”. Tell us the store you bought from (Google Play or the App Store) and the approximate date of purchase — that is enough for us to find the record. There is nothing else to send us, because we hold no account, name, email or location for you.

We will delete the purchase record and the anonymous app-user identifier from RevenueCat within 30 days, and confirm by reply.

Deleting this record also deletes the proof that you paid: your Premium features will stop working and cannot be restored. Google Play and Apple keep their own record of the transaction under their own policies, which we cannot delete. Settings held on your device are removed by uninstalling the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change and the new version will be posted at this page.
